Proceeds from
the 2010 People Helping People Awards are invested back into
community. The primary beneficiaries of the People
Helping People Awards are Hands
On Sacramento and 2-1-1
Sacramento
HANDS
ON SACRAMENTO. Established in
1998 by the Community Services Planning Council and a group
of forward-thinking community leaders, Hands On Sacramento
is the region's full-service volunteer center and a committed
advocate for innovative social change.
From
volunteer referrals to managed projects to issue education,
Hands On Sacramento works with individuals, businesses, community
groups, nonprofit organizations, and public agencies to transform
good intentions into good works.
Hands
On Sacramento's engaging service opportunities educate individuals,
inspire further volunteerism, and make an indelible impact
on our community. Be the Change. Volunteer.
2-1-1
SACRAMENTO. 2-1-1 is a free,
easy-to remember three-digit telephone number that enables
everyone access to vital community services that they need.
In March 2004, the California Public Utilities Commission
approved Community Services Planning Council's designation
as the 2-1-1 provider for Sacramento County. In 2008, CSPC
plans to transition its current information and referral program,
InfoLine Sacramento, into a 2-1-1 call center providing 24/7
services.
