Membership The
Human Services Coordinating Council consists of
twenty-two (22) voting members appointed by the Sacramento County
Board of Supervisors. The Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board, the
Mental Health Board, the Public Health Advisory Board, the Adult
and Aging Commission, the Children’s Coalition,
and the Disability Advisory Commission are each allotted three
voting seats, and an additional four voting seats are designated
for community members. Community members shall be residents
of Sacramento County, and are selected through an application
process.
In
addition, the Director (or designee) of the County Department
of Human Assistance, the Director (or designee) of the County
Department of Health and Human Services, a designee of the Board
of Supervisors, and the Administrator of the Countywide Services
Agency shall serve as ex-officio, non-voting members of the
Human Services Coordinating Council.
Expectations
of Members
The
Human Services Coordinating Council (HSCC) is reliant upon an
active membership to generate ideas and develop strategies for
moving ideas forward. For this reason, members must be aware
of emerging and existing human service issues that are impacting
the County. To advance the goals of HSCC, it is expected that
members will:
1)
Attend and actively participate in all HSCC meetings;
2)
Participate on at least one committee or work group of HSCC;
3)
Dedicate time to reviewing meeting materials and otherwise preparing
for upcoming meetings prior to arriving at the meeting;
4)
Remain apprised of current events, particularly as they relate
to human services;
5)
Gather input from and represent the needs/circumstances of a
particular Member Advisory Board and/or other constituency;
6)
Articulate views on how HSCC should respond to human service
issues impacting the County;
7)
Develop and present proposals for HSCC consideration regarding
issues impacting the human service delivery system in Sacramento
County;
8)
Propose concepts and activities that will further HSCC's mission;
9)
Offer skill sets, interests, and experiences to help complete
HSCC activities;
10)
Dedicate time between meetings to completing special projects
or assignments;
11)
Report developments in County human service system and programs
back to your Member Advisory Boards and/or constituency;
12)
Continually identify individuals with needed skills who may
be interested in membership on HSCC.
Between
meeting time and other tasks, members should expect to spend
5 – 8 hours per month on HSCC related activities.
