CHILDREN’S
TRUST FUND
The
Children’s Trust Fund is used to support child abuse and neglect
prevention and intervention programs operated by private non-profit
organizations with recognized expertise in fields related to child
welfare.
Organizations
previously awarded Children’s Trust Fund monies are eligible
to apply for funding for new child abuse and neglect prevention and
intervention programs; however, these organizations may not reapply
for continuation funding for programs once supported by a Children’s
Trust Fund grant.
The
Coalition’s Grant Review Committee has been delegated by the
full Coalition to administer and manage this funding by releasing
an RFP on a regular basis. The Community Services Planning Council
(CSPC) and Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services
(DHHS) staff assist the Committee in performing this work.
Funding
recommendations for the 2006 RFP will be presented to the Board of
Supervisors in January 2007.
Past
recipients include Stanford Settlement, and VIVA. Stanford Settlement
expanded its delinquency prevention and social development program
for school-aged children with its grant. VIVA used its Trust Fund
grant for expansion of “Project Hands On,” a post-trauma
expressive arts therapy program for children and adolescents exposed
to violence.
Current
recipients include the Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC), Sierra
Adoption Services, and Diogenes Youth Services. Funding to CAPC went
toward Information and Referral Line, Mandated Child Abuse Reporter
Trainings, and the Sacramento County Child Death Review Team.
